The WellDiggers
The WellDiggers are a New York based alt-country, roots-rock band founded and fronted by singer/songwriter, guitarist, Steve Welner. Running the gamut from traditional acoustic folk, blues, and bluegrass, to crunchy, twangin' electric rock, the band can most accurately be described as fitting within the umbrella of, "Americana" style music. Along with Steve, the band features a number of different configurations and combinations of musicians including, Don Gabis (bass, vocals), Jack Gabis (banjo, guitar, vocals), Rich Lanahan (guitar, vocals), Mike Leuci (drums), Mike Meehan (bass, vocals), and Eric Peters (drums). Individually, or with the band they have shared the stage, or recorded with the likes of Pete Seeger, Levon Helm, Graham Parker, Peter Rowan, Eric "Roscoe" Ambel (Steve Earle, Del-Lords), Rob Arthur (Peter Frampton), The Silos, Marah, Chip Robinson, and Keith Christopher (Georgia Satellites), to name a few.

A new album, "Hope and Fear" is in the works. The forthcoming WellDiggers album will feature 11 new songs written, recorded, and produced by Steve Welner. In addition to, The WellDigger "regulars", the album also includes special guest performances by some of our favorite local musicians. It is being mixed by Tim Hatfield at Cowboy Technical Studios in Williamsburgh, NY.
